Everybody Loves Raymond, was (and is, through re-runs) an extremely successful sitcom running from 1996 to 2005, produced by HBO, and shown on CBS. It is still shown in many countries around the world, and has also been released on video and DVD.
The show centres around the daily life of Ray Barone from Long Island. Ray is married to the gorgeous but hen-pecked Debra, and they have three children - Ally, and the twin sons Michael and Geoffrey. Many of the plot lines revolve around the Ray's oddball parents, Frank and Maree who live across the street. Frank and escpecially Maree constantly interfere in Ray and Debra's lives, and always drag them into their own squabbles. Ray's brother, Robert, a giant of a man who is plagued by self-doubt and jealousy, is also often involved.
The show revolved around the life of Ray Barone, a Newsday sportswriter from Lynbrook, Long Island who lives with his wife, Debra, his daughter, Ally, and his identical twin sons, Geoffrey and Michael. Unfortunately for them, Ray's rather quirky and brash parents, as well as his self-doubting brother Robert, never give Ray or his family a moment of peace, and he finds himself and his wife being constantly dragged into their myriad squabbles.
Everybody loves Raymond was based on the real-life experiences of Ray Romano, and many of the characters are based upon his family. The most notable of these is his on-screen brother Robert, who is mix of Romano's two brothers. Ray Romano also liked to cast his family members as bit parts - both his wife and father have been on the show. In 2004, Ray became the highest paid television actor ever with a yearly salary of $50,000,000. It was later on revealed that Everybody Loves Raymond the show had broken another record by having the highest revenue of $3.9 billion dollars.
